Have high expectations for "The New Normal" this fall. Hope it'll be as ground-breaking (and as good) as "Will & Grace" was.

Ideas like these are the reason I'm not proud to have grown up in Ohio. Treating some citizens differently is wrong. Period.

I live in Nebraska, and I am ashamed to live in this state. Being as though I have 2 gay uncles, I think same-sex marriage should be allowed. 2 daddy's are better than none. 2 mommy's are better than none. Honestly...we talk about keeping things fair and having equal rights for all....but yet we decided to force the LGBT community to hid themselves and keep them away from being married. They are just as much of a person as you are. Don't discriminate just because their sexuality isn't to your own preference.

Comment on Illinois by Katie

@Frank

What makes laws banning same sex marriage so frustrating is that they are restricted currently to state laws, and states that officially ban gay marriage do not recognize marriages or civil partnerships performed in other states. This includes Indiana.
So to answer your question, you and your partner would have to move your household to Illinois and become citizens in order to be recognized as partners by your state of residency. Unfortunately, any protections written into the marriage laws of Illinois do not exist outside of the state, unless that state allows same-sex unions (i.e. Maryland).
