Connecticut Marriage Laws: What the State Constitution says…
No man may marry his mother, grandmother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, aunt, niece, stepmother or stepdaughter, and no woman may marry her father, grandfather, son, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew, stepfather or stepson. Any marriage within these degrees is void.
C.G.S.A. § 46B-21
Source: Connecticut State Constitution
Considering that “marriage” is a religious sacrament and the constitution of the United States mandates a separation of church and state; it appears to me the issuance of a “marriage” license to anyone is in violation of the Constitution. This would be the same as the state issuing a Baptismal certificate or collecting taxes on a Brit milah.
Religious communities should administer sacraments within their belief systems.
The state should levy taxes in accordance with civil and tax law.
If a pair of people wish to join their assets under the law and be regarded as a “United” or “Bound” to each other the state should issue a license and tax it just like articles of incorporation. Gender and sexual orientation should have nothing to do with it.
For those of you against gay marriage, listen close: it is happening, it is not slowing down. You can't reverse it, so how do you solve this "problem"? Evolve.
The Old Testament’s prohibition on homosexual activity was not the cruel imposition of a dictator, but the wise provision of a loving God who desired to see His chosen people grow in love. Perhaps (though there is no explicit evidence for this in the text) at some point the intensity of David and Jonathan’s affection for each other might have spilled over into sexual temptations. If so, the “delight in the law of the Lord” which moved David to song protected them from sin and kept their souls knit together in a pure and spiritual love.
In the same way, by declaring the “truth of God” that homosexual acts are sinful, the New Testament helps those of us who struggle with same-sex attractions to discover what it means to “worship the Father in spirit and in truth.”
But because love is the heart of the Gospel, Satan always tries to fool us with counterfeits of true love. Against these counterfeits, the Apostles and Prophets warn us again and again. God is love, and so nothing that is against His will can be love. He only approves of certain kinds of love, but punishes His people for loving idols, foreign women in the case of Israel, foreign deities, multiple wives, money, sexual love between close relations (incest), etc.
We do not always understand these prohibitions; God’s reasons for forbidding gay relationships may seem like dim shadow in a mirror to us when we first confront them. But it is love, not understanding, which God most desires from us. To place our hopes in Him even when we do not understand His ways is a mark of great faith, and even greater love.
It is not an easy path, and just as the Apostle Paul expressed the struggle between flesh and spirit, all of us will face struggles. But when we struggle, or when we fail, we should not lose hope. Rather, we should remember that Jesus said even of the soldiers who killed Him, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do” (Luke 23:34). And even when we fall again and again to the same familiar sins, we should remember that Christ told Peter to forgive others not seven times, but seventy times seven times (cf. Matthew 18:22). If God commands such mercy from us, how much more will He, who is Mercy Himself, show mercy to us in our weakness?
It also brought alive an important theme from the Psalms, the great prayerbook of the People of God: “Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers” (Psalms 1:1-3). For those who follow the Law with all their heart, it becomes a source of life, strength, and peace of spirit.
Okay, please, no one bash me. This is just my opinion. I wasn't even going to share it, but after reading all the comments, I just had to leave my input. Okay, so I know everyone has different beliefs and different religions interpret the Bible in various ways. The Bible does say that homosexuality is an abomination. BUT, the Bible also says to "honor all men". So in other words, if someone is not living by Bible standards in your opinion, then you should not let that affect the way you treat that person. Like someone pointed out, we should love our neighbors as we love ourselves. The Bible in no way gives people permission to be homophobes or to treat anyone who doesn't live by Bible standards with hate and disdain. It just merely states what is not right by God's standards and what the penalty is in the end for those who do not follow it. I personally believe that this just means those who want to please God should live by His standards and, since the Bible also says to "go forth and make followers", practice preaching without impeaching (in other words, you can preach your beliefs, but don't shove them down people's throats). One other thing I would like to point out is that the Bible says that all sins are equal. So, if homosexuality is a sin—and I'm not trying to offend anyone by saying that is—then liars are just as guilty as gay people. And everybody lies. So homophobic people are being hypocrites. Just saying….
For those of you that didn't know, Canada is the 4th most peaceful country in the world. Can anybody guess why?
They understand equality!!!!
Isn't the US supposed to be something along the lines of…
THE LAND OF THE FREE!
NOT THE LAND OF THE HETEROSEXUALS AND CHRISTIANS!!!

The Bible is such a feeble excuse to be against gay marriage. First, the Bible is open to interpretation and has also been translated in many different ways. The Bible was written many years ago and is obviously a little outdated. The Bible itself isn't inherently bad or evil. You just shouldn't take every single sentence at face value. In my opinion, the Bible is a tool to help people live their lives as good people. Either way, separation of church and state, so you shouldn't even be bringing up the Bible in that way Mr. Snyder. If you want to live in a place where gay marriage is illegal then move to Africa. Have fun!
hey justin snyder the bible also says that if a woman's raped she has to marry her rapist not everything in there is morally correct. Plus US citizens have a right to practice any religion they want so using the Bible as a reason to why people shouldn't marry whoever they want is ridiculous.
DROP THE SHIT gay is okay
First off the bible thing is really old. just drop it ok Justin Snyder? no one of the same sex is asking you to marry them and if they are all you have to do is say no
Also I cant wait to get to heaven and watch as God bitch slaps every homophobe on the planet.
If you read Leviticus in the Old Testament, Chapter 20 verse 13, you will see that homosexuality is an abomination. The Bible is the word of God. The founding fathers of the United States Constitution, believed in God. The pledge of allegiance states:
"…and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
It is clear this nation was formed under a belief in obedience to our creator, our God! God has told us that homosexuality is an abomination. It is unnatural and not a design of God. There is not one person on earth who was born from Homosexuality or Homosexual parents. Not one! If homosexuality flourished, children would no longer be born on earth and earth will stop being populated. Earth would fall. Homosexuality is wickedness and again, is stated in the Bible as an abomination. Enforcing non-discrimination of homosexuality in effect allows it to occur. Law enforcement then will begin to arrest individuals for violation of this "so-called discrimination of homosexuals" and good honest heterosexual people will begin to lose their freedom. Families will be broken up and children will not be born to homosexuals. Life on Earth would turn to chaos and confusion.
Please outlaw homosexuality and conform to the laws of God. It is God who created all of us and it is HIS will that will bring peace and prosperity. Wickedness never was happiness and never will be. We must learn to obey our creator as the founding fathers desired.
How about you "love thy neighbody like thy brother" bible man………. Pretty sure that is in there too and i dont think you can chose which neighbors to love and which "god hates."
excuse me, sir. i’m kat. i’m a Christian AND a lesbian. i consider what God wants, of course! but have you ever considered that God LOVES his homosexual creations as much as his heterosexual ones? God loves us all equally and knowing that He loves me despite all of the ‘you’e gay??! damn you to hell’ shit makes me happy. God HATES hate. homophobes are full of hate. if i were you, sir, i would watch my hate. ‘love thy neighbor’ you said, right? that means gays, too!
